Kolkata: A 30-year-old woman, who was detected with cancer in 2015 and had undergone a surgery that led to the removal of her right side ovary, recently delivered a girl at a city hospital.The woman, a resident of Chandannagore in Hooghly, was newly-married when she was detected with the disease. She had a harrowing time when she came to know about it. Her desire to be a mother was almost shattered till she consulted Dr Biswajyoti Guha, a city-based doctor, who instilled confidence in her and helped her to conceive the baby. At that time, the woman had undergone chemotherapy and Dr Majumder had requested Dr Guha to take necessary measures to ensure the woman conceived and became a mother. The woman has been under Dr Biswajyoti Guha’s treatment for a long time and conceived twice. However, both the times, she suffered miscarriages during initial weeks of pregnancy. After a prolonged effort, she became pregnant through IVF treatment. Her health condition was also not stable and this was the major concern of the doctors, who had been treating her. According to Dr Guha, the patient had developed gestational diabetes and obstetric cholestasis during pregnancy. The doctors had taken all kinds of preventive measures to ensure that the woman delivers the baby without any complications. A few days ago, the woman gave birth to a baby girl with the help of a team of doctors— surgeons Dr Biswajyoti Guha , Dr Satyen Das, Dr Aparupa Ghosh , neonatologist Dr Runa Majumdar , anaestesist Dr Shamik Nandi and Dr Avik.
