TFA Discipline Protocol – Promoting a safe and abuse/harassment free environment

first_imgThe following memo provides a brief overview for all 2014 X-Blades NTL and Elite Eight competition participants and spectators regarding on-field discipline and expectations associated with conduct. The Touch Football Australia (TFA) Board and Management reaffirm TFA’s position on the key requirement of enforcing and supporting a safe and harassment-free environment for all participants. In particular, we commit to providing a positive participation experience where all parties are afforded respect and courtesy for the role they fulfil within the game.As a sport and organisation we do not condone or tolerate any form of abuse or harassment. This should be a minimum expectation of all participants in the sport. To this end, we will be providing a clear guideline for enforcement throughout the 2014 X-Blades NTL and Elite Eight competitions, particularly associated with instances that occurs on-field.This expectation applies to all tournament participants including players, coaches, managers, officials and spectators. It is linked to all organisational policies as well as the responsibility code, which will be available and promoted clearly throughout the events. In particular, we wish to provide for our referee community and staff an environment which is free from such abuse or harassment. Both parties are enforcing rules associated with the event and should be able to do so in a way which is afforded due respect by all participants.TFA recognises the vital role referees play in our great game, and supports their right to be respected whilst doing so. To that end ‘zero tolerance’ will apply to any form of abuse or harassment of referees and officials. The Protocol will be partnered by a Video Campaign created by Touch Football SA, the South Australian Government and the Office for Recreation and Sport which will be accessible via the TFA YouTube Channel or you can view in the window below.
