However, business fixed investment and net export remained soft. More importantly, inflation is still running below the Committee’s objective of 2 percent, reflecting earlier drops in energy prices and falling prices of non-energy imports. Looking ahead, the Committee still expects a moderate pace of GDP growth, with continuing job gains and lower energy prices supporting household spending. In terms of housing, the committee found that recent data on housing starts and permits as well as the higher levels of sales and prices are signs of continued recovery in the market, according to the minutes. In addition, looser lending standards for residential mortgages evidenced in the most recent SLOOS will further progression in the housing sector. However, a couple of committee members said they “did not expect this sector to be a major contributor to economic growth over the remainder of the year.””The Committee concluded that, although it had seen further progress, the economic conditions warranting an increase in the target range for the federal funds rate had not yet been met,” the minutes noted. “Members generally agreed that additional information on the outlook would be necessary before deciding to implement an increase in the target range.”One member, however, indicated a readiness to take that step at this meeting but was willing to wait for additional data to confirm a judgment to raise the target range.“If the economy evolves as we expect, economic conditions likely would make it appropriate at some point this year to raise the federal funds rate target, thereby beginning to normalize the stance of monetary policy,” said Janet Yellen, Chair of the Board of Governors Federal Reserve System at the July FOMC meeting. FOMC chair Janet Yellen revealed at a mid-July House Financial Services Committee hearing that rates would be raised upon improving economic conditions at no particular time.“At our meeting that ended today, the Committee concluded that these conditions have not yet been achieved. It remains the case that the Committee will determine the timing of the initial increase in the federal funds rate on a meeting-by-meeting basis, depending on its assessment of incoming economic information and its implications for the economic outlook.”However, Yellen did allude to the rate increase possibly occurring before the end of the year in a Senate Banking Committee hearing also held in mid-July .”If the economy evolves as we expect, economic conditions likely would make it appropriate at some point this year to raise the federal funds rate target, thereby beginning to normalize the stance of monetary policy,” Yellen said. “Indeed, most participants in June projected that an increase in the federal funds target range would likely become appropriate before year-end. But let me emphasize again that these are projections based on the anticipated path of the economy, not statements of intent to raise the rates at any particular time.”The committee has three more meetings this year in September, October, and December to still decide if and when rates will be raised.Click here to view the Minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee July 28-29, 2015 meeting. However, that friendly was cancelled at the 11th hour due to a positive test, and Stoke have now confirmed that manager O’Neill, rather than a player, is the person who returned that test. The 50-year-old will now be forced to enter a period of isolation, while any further cases in the Stoke camp could plunge their first match back – against Reading at the Madejski Stadium on June 20 – into doubt.“Stoke City can confirm that manager Michael O’Neill has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus following the latest round of testing on Monday (June 8),” read a statement on the club’s official website.“O’Neill had tested negative in the previous five rounds of testing. He will now follow the relevant guidance and undergo a period of isolation, whilst continuing to be in regular virtual contact with his coaching staff and players.“Assistant manager Billy McKinlay will take charge of training as the Potters prepare for their game against Reading on June 20. Here are match grades and a recap, courtesy of SN’s Steven Muehlhausen.Join DAZN and watch more than 100 fight nights a yearNew Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 29 Final GradesKarl Fredericks and Clark Connors def. Ren Narita and Yota Tsuji Muehlhausen: The opening bout of a card is designed to whet the fans’ appetite. These four guys battled like they were the headliners and were treated as such for the effort they put into everything they did. Watch out for Fredericks and Connors in the future. They have star potential written all over them.Grade: BJushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask and Jeff Cobb def. Lance Archer, Taichi and Yoshinobu KanemaruMuehlhausen: How dare Taichi try to rip off the mask off of the legendary Liger? He’s really come into his own as a heel like the one you would want to see the babyface get his hands on. An excellent showcase for Cobb teaming with Liger and Mask to be able to get the rub from two veterans and be the one to get secure the pin for his team with the tour of the islands.Grade: CWill Ospreay, SHO and YOH def. Taiji Ishimori, Chase Owens and Yujiro Takahashi Ospreay was the showcase and came through in a big way. The crowd treated him as a big-time superstar, and there’s no reason why a year from now, the Englishman won’t be the top foreigner in New Japan. He has an uncanny connection with the fans that you cannot teach. Combine that with his once in a lifetime skill set and he’s on his way to achieving the aforementioned goal in the next 365 days.Grade: BJuice Robinson and Toa Henare def. Jon Moxley and Shota Umino Muehlhausen: Nothing to the tag team bout. It helped set up a confrontation between Moxley and Robinson with the result being Moxley sending Robinson crashing through a table to continue their feud.Grade: C-Hirooki Goto, Toru Yano, Togi Makabe, Tomoaki Honma and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, SANADA, Shingo Takagi and BUSHI Muehlhausen: A fun eight-person bout where everyone had an opportunity to have their moments with Sanada finally getting a much-needed pin as he shifts gears toward a match against IWGP heavyweight champion Kazuchika Okada.Grade: CKENTA, Tomohiro Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa) and Bad Luck Fale Muehlhausen: The grade isn’t geared towards the match, but what happened during the action and afterward with KENTA turning his back on his partners and then the man who brought him back to the company in Katsuyori Shibata and joining The Bullet Club. Not sure if KENTA is the answer to the floundering group who used to be the premier faction in wrestling. Now KENTA has two tailor-made programs with Ishii and what seems to be a returning Shibata from a career-threatening injury. KENTA/Shibata at the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom on Jan. 4 or 5? New Japan will need big matches to get people in for two shows. That would definitely sell a lot of tickets.Grade: AZack Sabre Jr. and Minoru Suzuki def. Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika OkadaMuehlhausen: All types of fun with Suzuki being the star of the match and controlling the action when he was in there with Okada and Tanahashi.Perfect final five minutes between Suzuki and Okada that saw great transitions that ended up with Suzuki pinning Okada clean in the middle of the ring and giving him another jolt in his career that looked to more towards the end than receiving another chance to win the IWGP heavyweight title. Afterward, Suzuki challenged Okada for a shot at the belt.Okada looks to have the rest of his year lined up now in programs with Suzuki, Sanada and Ibushi.Grade: B+Kota Ibushi def. Jay White Muehlhausen: What a fantastic finale to end the G1 Climax 29.The beginning of the tournament started with Ibushi suffering a left ankle injury in the very first match and battling through five weeks of the best tournament in pro wrestling and competing at a premiere level that few would be able to compete at. The story of the match couldn’t have been told better with White having to battle it out alone without his Bullet Club teammates and Ibushi struggling to do every move on just one leg, with White trying to do everything in his power to try and ensure Ibushi wouldn’t walk again.Stories don’t need to be complicated and that’s what made this one of the best matches of the year. Give two people a canvas and let them paint the picture as they see fit and what we saw was a masterpiece between two extremely talented artists. Bravo.Grade: A+++ The New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Climax 29 Final came to a close on Monday from Budokan Hall in Tokyo. What was to be a pretty good show turned into one of the best shows of year featuring one of the best matches of 2019 with Kota Ibushi and Jay White taking you on an emotional rollar coaster ride and Ibushi coming out on top to win the tournament. The win puts Ibushi in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 14 on Jan. 4, 2020 against whomever the IWGP heavyweight champion is at that time.
