Ghana’s Black Stars moved four places up to 47th in the latest Coca-Cola FIFA Rankings released on Thursday.Kwesi Appiah’s team, bounced back from their disappointing Round 16 exit at the AFCON back in July, with back to back victories in their opening two games of the AFCON 2021 qualifiers, against South Africa and São Tomé.The Black Stars also moved up one place to 6th place ranking in Africa, behind Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Nigeria and Morocco, who occupy the first five places. Belgium remain top of the overall rankings with the top 10 remaining unchanged. However there was some movement, with Croatia (6th) and Portugal (7th) trading places.
MLB hot stove: Padres, Bryce Harper reportedly set meeting The Nationals, Padres, Phillies and White Sox have all been revealed as potential destinations for Harper, though the remaining teams interested are unknown.The Athletic notes that sources with the Braves, Cardinals, Astros, Giants, Angels, Yankees and Blue Jays have confirmed Harper has been ruled out as a prospective signing. Bryce Harper has the attention of at least one-quarter of the majors.According to MLB Network, at least eight teams are still checking on the coveted outfielder, though several of those clubs have a short-term deal in mind. Harper and his agent, Scott Boras, have met with a number of teams in recent days, including second and third meetings with some. However, there’s no indication he’s close to reaching a deal.Harper previously met with the Phillies, White Sox and Dodgers, and reports last month indicated the Phillies are the “clear-cut favorite” to sign him. There’s also the possibility that he returns to the Nationals after meeting with team reps “multiple times” this offseason, even though he reportedly turned down a 10-year deal worth $300 million last year.A six-time All-Star, Harper has spent all seven of his MLB seasons in Washington.
