TUSCALOOSA, AL – NOVEMBER 18: Jalen Hurts #2 of the Alabama Crimson Tide looks on during the second half of the game against the Mercer Bears at Bryant-Denny Stadium on November 18, 2017 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)Alabama football had a seriously scary moment on its last drive. Heisman favorite Tua Tagovailoa was hit hard in his mid-section, and had to leave the game. To the surprise of some, it was Mac Jones who came in to replace him, and not Jalen Hurts.Tagovailoa beat out Hurts earlier in the year for the starting job, after replacing him at halftime of the national championship game.Alabama has been crushing teams though, so we’ve seen plenty of both. Tagovailoa is yet to throw a fourth quarter pass.A Jalen Hurts injury makes it very unlikely that he will appear this week though, even in the event of Tua Tagovailoa going down again.Hurts suffered a sprained ankle against Tennessee a few weeks ago, and had minor surgery to alleviate the issue. He is suited up, but it is clear that Alabama doesn’t want to have to play him. He came off the bus in a walking boot, and was shown jogging very gingerly earlier.Jalen Hurts getting close attention from S&C coach Scott Cochran. It doesn’t look like Hurts would really be mobile enough to protect himself against an extremely talented LSU defense.Tagovailoa is back in, and just led the Crimson Tide on a touchdown drive, hitting Henry Ruggs for a score. The Tide lead 6-0 after a botched extra point.
